Possible Real-World Inspirations
Port Gellhorn includes scenery and buildings that resemble places in Florida. The following locations are possible inspirations based on their appearance and surroundings. Rockstar may also have combined features from multiple places.
Townscape: Panama City Area
Panama City in Florida’s Panhandle and its neighboring communities are possible inspirations for Port Gellhorn. Both are coastal areas associated with tourism, and the low storefronts and parking lots along major roads resemble the streets seen in the game.
Several places in and around Panama City share features with the town’s streets and buildings.
Port & Bridge: Tampa Bay Area
Port Gellhorn’s seaport evokes Port Tampa Bay in Tampa, Florida. Both feature waterfront port facilities and cranes.
A large bridge visible in the footage also resembles the Sunshine Skyway Bridge across Tampa Bay. Its long span over the water and tall towers with radiating cables are notable similarities. The bridge’s in-game name and precise location are details to watch for.
Starlet Motel Sign: Dixie Motel
The Starlet Motel sign may have been inspired by the sign at the Dixie Motel in Hilliard, Florida. Both have a large roadside sign with an arrow, the word “MOTEL,” and a vacancy indicator.
Delights: Bambi’s Dollhouse
Delights may have been inspired by Bambi’s Dollhouse, a cabaret in Panama City. Both have a long, low roadside building, a parking lot, and a prominent sign in front.
Pawn & Gun: A Panama City Building
A building in the Panama City area resembles Port Gellhorn Pawn & Gun, seen in official footage. The low building sits back from the road and has signage running across its frontage.
