Rockstar Games has moved the start of GTA 6 digital pre-loading to November 10, two days earlier than originally announced. Pre-loading will require up to 212 GB of free space, depending on your console. Here are the PS5 and Xbox start times, what to expect with a boxed copy, and how to get ready.
Pre-Load at a Glance
GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026.
PS5 and Xbox Start Times
Digital pre-loading has moved forward from November 12 to November 10. PS5 and Xbox use different time zones for the start.
PS5
Nov 10, midnight local time
Pre-loading begins at midnight on November 10 in your local time zone.
Xbox Series X|S
Nov 9, 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT
Pre-loading begins worldwide at the same moment: November 10 at 12 a.m. GMT. In the continental US, that is the evening of November 9.
Pre-loading lets you download the game before release, so it is ready for launch. GTA 6 becomes playable on November 19.
When Can Physical Buyers Pre-Load?
The physical edition for both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S contains a download code and is expected to be available from retailers starting November 12. Once you receive and redeem your code, you can start downloading the game.
If your copy is being shipped, the date it reaches you determines when you can redeem the code and start the download.
Up to 212 GB of Free Space Required
Rockstar says the pre-load requires up to 212 GB of available space, depending on your device. Check your console storage before pre-loading begins.
A 210 GB download has previously been reported for the PS5 Standard Edition. The Ultimate Edition may be a similar size, but Rockstar has not provided a breakdown by platform or edition. Its 212 GB figure describes the maximum free space needed for pre-loading.

Getting Ready to Pre-Load
Rockstar advises leaving up to 212 GB free for the pre-load. If the downloaded data is compressed, additional space may be needed while installing or unpacking it.
Launch updates could also require more storage, so leaving some room beyond 212 GB is a good idea.
Free Digital Leonida Map
On November 19, Rockstar plans to release a free printable digital poster featuring the Leonida map and GTA 6 cover art on its official website.
How to Get the Physical Map Poster
A double-sided physical version is expected on the Rockstar Store shortly after launch. Rockstar says it will be available for $0.99 on its own or as a free gift with any Rockstar Store purchase. Details for orders placed before the promotion begins have not been announced.
