You can buy Standard first and upgrade to Ultimate later for the $20 price difference. At regular U.S. prices, the combined cost is $99.99, the same as buying Ultimate outright. Upgrading later does not cost extra at those prices.

Full Game & Purchase Formats

Both editions include Jason and Lucia’s story. They release on November 19, 2026, with pre-load available from November 12.

Standard is available digitally and as a physical code-in-box version. Ultimate is digital only. The physical version contains a download code, not a game disc. After redeeming the code, you can purchase the Ultimate Edition Upgrade.

Which Edition Should You Choose?

Standard May Suit You If…

  • You mainly want to experience Jason and Lucia’s story
  • You want a lower upfront price
  • None of the bonuses is a must-have for you
  • You would rather play first and decide on the upgrade later

Standard lets you start with the full game. Expecting to spend many hours playing does not, on its own, mean you need Ultimate.

Ultimate May Suit You If…

  • You want the additional cars, boat, and weapons
  • You enjoy customizing outfits, hairstyles, and tattoos
  • You are interested in exclusive shops and restoring classic cars
  • You like the bonus lineup and want to buy it together

Look for bonuses you actually want to use. Ultimate offers more reasons to choose it if you also enjoy character customization, compound raids, and finding and restoring classic cars.

Still undecided? You can start with Standard.

The upgrade costs $20. Add that to Standard’s regular $79.99 price and the total is $99.99, matching Ultimate’s regular price.

Can You Upgrade Later?

Yes. Buy the $20 Ultimate Edition Upgrade to add Ultimate’s content to Standard. At regular prices, the total is the same as buying Ultimate outright, so you can decide after purchasing the game.

  1. Buy Standard Edition. If you choose the physical code-in-box version, redeem its game download code.
  2. Find the Ultimate Edition Upgrade on PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store.
  3. Check the price and product, then purchase the upgrade.

The upgrade is an add-on for Standard owners. It requires the full game and cannot be played on its own. You are adding content to your existing game, rather than buying the game again.

Buying FAQ

Can I buy the same bonuses with in-game money in Standard?

Do not assume that progressing through Standard will let you buy Ultimate’s bonuses with in-game money. The official descriptions identify some shops as Ultimate-only and some outfits as exclusive, suggesting those are restricted to Ultimate owners.

Not every item is explicitly labeled exclusive, so Standard access to a few items remains possible. No such unlock method has been confirmed. Choose based on the advertised contents rather than expecting to buy the same bonuses later with in-game money in Standard.

Does Standard include the full story?

Yes. Both editions include the full game. Ultimate adds vehicles, weapons, customization, shops, classic car restoration, and compound raids. You can choose Standard if experiencing the main story is your priority.

Does Ultimate let me play early?

Both editions release on November 19, 2026. Pre-load begins November 12 so you can download the data ahead of launch; it does not give early access to the game.

Is there a physical Ultimate Edition?

The physical code-in-box version is Standard only. After redeeming its code, you can buy the upgrade from the platform store. No game disc is included.

Does Ultimate include all future DLC?

The purchase includes the listed bonuses. It has not been confirmed to include every future DLC release or bonuses for a future online mode. Base your choice on the advertised contents.

Will Ultimate make the game easier?

The detailed stats of bonus weapons and vehicles, and their effect on difficulty, are not yet confirmed. Choose based on the cars, weapons, customization, shops, and missions you want, rather than assuming the higher-priced edition makes the game easier.

Where to buy: PlayStation / Xbox. For bonus details and upgrade requirements, see official support.
